Well, U used to work on Linux. But soon it became annoying to run Windows XP and Linux on a laptop. I needed both. I decided to run Windows XP only, because I was able to emulate Linux with Cygwin. I was by far not convenient, but it was okay.

Three years later, I develop J2EE webapps, and my notebook has not enough resources. While in office, I run Suse again. Development is great, but other things such as multimedia or office are no fun on linux.

With Windows Vista, I still have no real option.

But with an Apple, you can have the best of both worlds. Moreover, it beatifully integrates with Apple devices such as the iPhone. And ther products are simply beautiful.

Why do you make yourself so dependent on Apple (hardware+software)?
Get yourself a notebook/personal computer you like, with whatever configuration you need (what about this one: FSC Lifebook T5010) and install Linux on it. Linux gives you real freedom - and you'll see you won't need anything else. (Of course Linux is not perfect, but the other OS are not either).
